Bake Off fever returns to Woking for 2016 competition

Dig out your aprons, roll up your sleeves and prepare to get cooking, as it’s that time of year again where Woking Food and Drink Festival and Woking Shopping prepare to crown Woking’s best adult and junior baker.
Woking Shopping’s Bake Off competition returns to the Woking Food and Drink Festival on Sunday 4 September for the fourth year!
Eager bakers are once again required to bake their best sponge cake in a bid to win the title of Woking’s Best Baker along with a cookery class at Woking’s very own Tante Marie Culinary Academy and a signed copy of John Whaite’s ‘Perfect Plates in 5 Ingredients.’
The winners will be announced by John Whaite and Rosemary Shrager from popular cookery show ‘Chopping Block’, and Cllr Anne Murray, Mayor of Woking, at the festival on Sunday 4 September at 4.45pm in the Tante Marie Culinary Academy Theatre in Jubilee Square.
To enter, bakers are required to drop off their cakes at Christ Church, in Jubilee Square, between 12.45pm and 2pm on Sunday 4 September so that they’re ready to be judged.
The two categories include a junior bake off competition for those who’re under 16 years old and the adult bake off for those 16 and over.

Last year, Caron Moses won the title of Woking’s 2015 Bake Off Winner, her lemon, coconut and raspberry cake blew away judges for its amazing light and delicate taste, great texture along with excellent presentation.
Pick of the bunch for the junior bakers in 2015 was Lois Malbon. Her cake – a tribute to ‘A Teddy Bears Picnic’ amazed judges with its full flavour, moisture and presentation.
Rowen De Grauw, Customer Experience Manager at Woking Shopping, said: “We can’t wait for this year’s Bake Off to begin - we’re expecting even more entries this year following the hugely success 2015 competition. The inaugural junior bake off competition was brilliant and we’re hoping to see more creative entries this year too.
