The Woking Food and Drink Festival is organised by Woking Borough Council as part of its continued London 2012 legacy programme of events, Celebrate Woking.
Woking Borough Council is committed to the economic development of the Borough as a place to live, do business and visit. The Festival’s venue, the refurbished Jubilee Square, is the starting point of extensive and on-going town centre revitalisation works which are planned over the next five years.
Woking Borough Council is working in partnership with a range of local partners to deliver the free, three-day festival.
Taking centre stage at the heart of the festival is the Tante Marie Culinary Academy Theatre, run by the UK’s oldest independent cookery school which is based in Woking.
It's in the purpose-built cookery demonstration theatre where experienced and prestigious chefs deliver a three-day programme of master-classes and Q&A sessions.
Bringing his wealth of culinary expertise to the Theatre is Kim Somauroo, an experienced Home Economist who trained at the Woking based Tante Marie Culinary Academy.
Kim is responsible for the complete delivery and smooth running of the Theatre. Previously, he has managed the demo stages at some of the country’s most prominent food events, including:
The Festival is delivered in partnership with Woking Shopping, which manages the town's centrally located shopping centres and public realm. It is responsible for ensuring that the Festival dove-tails with the shopping centres' activities and visitor and exhibitor safety.
Do You Love Food, a specialist food events and event management company, will be sourcing and showcasing the best of Woking's and the surrounding areas' food producers, restaurants owners and chefs, as well as delivering the festival's carefully planned infrastructure.
