Fairtrade Food & Family Quarter

The Woking Food and Drink Festival will incorporate a free, family-friendly Fairtrade Food and Family Quarter hosted dually by The Lightbox and WWF-UK’s Living Planet Centre on Saturday 5 September.

Both venues are easily accessible from the town by the main pedestrian crossing on Victoria Way – next to the Basingstoke Canal and linked by the new Bedser Bridge – and are few minutes walk from the heart of the Woking Food and Drink Festival, held in Jubilee Square and adjacent areas.

Within the Quarter, The Lightbox and WWF-UK will be promoting organic, local and Fairtrade food, along with hosting free interactive activities for families and also visit both venue’s visitor attractions.

What’s on at The Lightbox

Open from 10.30am to 5pm, The Lightbox Café courtyard will be filled with stalls showcasing and selling produce from the local food and drink suppliers used all year round in its Café. Visitors can expect to find plenty of Jude’s ice cream, Redber coffee and a range from the Surrey based Garden Cider Company on offer.

The tranquil Café courtyard, just a two minute walk from Jubilee Square and located on bank of the Basingstoke Canal, also provides a relaxing retreat away from the hustle and bustle of the festival.

Visitors looking for a spot of culture and an opportunity to digest, can visit the family-friendly exhibition, ‘Warhol and the World of Pop Art’, which is open during the festival inside The Lightbox. This exhibition is a fun and colourful exploration of international Pop Art and features some of the world’s most famous artists, such as Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein and Claes Oldenburg.
