Talk: Saturday 2 September, 3.30pm
For 30 years Brian worked in the chocolate and coffee business in the UK, Dubai, Budapest and Zurich. He is owner of Sloane's Hot Chocolate named after Sir Hans Sloane who brought Milk Hot Chocolate to London in 1689.
After visiting Paris and tasting some incredible hot chocolate in a brassiere in L'isle Saint Louis he returned to UK and wondered why you rarely found hot chocolate that tasted so good. So Sloane's Hot Chocolate was born with the plan to reinvent hot chocolate by adding more cocoa, so it actually tastes of chocolate.
Based in Byfleet a small team make their unique Chocolate Beads which melt in hot milk to give a delicious hot chocolate drink. Already in local favourites like Water's Edge, Horsell and Sweet Passions, Byfleet they are growing in coffee shops around the UK. In 2016 they won the Best Hot Chocolate Award from The Sunday Telegraph and have won several Great Taste Awards.
Brian has been to No.10 a number of times to talk about the challenges for small businesses and he has also appeared on Channel 4 News and been featured in The Times and The Telegraph.
