The life of a chef is never straightforward, and that can be said for chef Daniel Britten. In 2008, Daniel decided to apply for BBC’s MasterChef where he reached the quarterfinals of the hit show. Inspired by his time on the programme, and all he had learnt, Daniel chose to change his life path and leave his role as a painter and pursue his ambition to be a professional chef.
In 2009 he gained a Cordon Bleu Diploma at Tante Marie Culinary Academy in Woking and threw himself into gaining experience in a variety of kitchens around the Surrey Hills.
In 2015 all the hard work paid off after Daniel opened a restaurant in Guildford and won Surrey Life's Food and Drink Award for Best Local Menu, and has since been runner up for Chef of the Year for two years running.
After a decade of gaining a vast amount of experience in kitchens, Daniel decided to launch his private dining and pop up business, 'Britten for Food', in 2017. His ethos is simple; create new and innovative menus with locally sourced, in-season produce - the ingredients must shine through.
Since launching Britten for Food, Daniel has worked on a diverse range of private dining events and has sold out a succession of popups. He has featured at a variety of food festivals where you can watch him demo some of his favourite dishes; Daniel often features at the Surrey County Show and The Woking Food Festival.
This year sees Daniel continue to be 'a chef of no fixed abode' as he continues to produce award-winning menus for supper clubs, private dining events and popups.
